At just eight years old, Tatiana Bolaños was traveling the globe, performing to massive crowds and breaking records.
And while it was wildly exciting at time, the former child star has admitted that being thrust into the spotlight at such a young age also came with a slew of downsides.
She was put under immense pressure and forced to grow up much quicker than most kids.
Bolaños also alleged that she was ‘sexualized at a young age’ and started facing pressure to ‘show skin’ from her label, ultimately leading to her fleeing the spotlight as a teen.

Now, she has spoken exclusively with the Daily Mail about her journey, breaking down the thrilling highs and harrowing lows that she endured during her years in the spotlight.
Bolaños explained that her mom realized she had ‘something special’ when she was only four years old and would ‘sing passionately in the car.’
By age six, she began competing in singing competitions, and she soon landed her first national TV appearance on the popular Latino variety show Sábado Gigante with Don Francisco.
After that, her mom got her a manager, who introduced her to several music executives, and at eight years old, she was signed to Sony Regional Mexico – making her the youngest artist every to be signed by a major record label.

‘That moment really opened the (door) for me to the entertainment world before I even understood where it could all lead,’ she recalled.
Bolaños, who was born in Los Angeles, Californiabut whose mom was Mexican,released her debut album La Chiquita Divina soon after getting signed, and was booked on an international tour across the globe.

‘I did press, performed nonstop and traveled to places like Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile, Honduras, Mexico and … I was only eight years old!’ Bolaños reflected.
And while getting to travel the world at such a young age was extremely exciting, there were hard parts as well.
Bolaños admitted that she was forced to ‘grow up so fast’ and recalled having to handle ‘adult pressures before she could even understand them.’
‘I will never take for granted the experience I had or the memories I made – being signed so young shaped me into who I am today,’ she said.

‘But the downside was that I had to grow up so fast. I felt like I missed out on a normal childhood – making friends, going to school consistently and just being a kid.’
In addition, shesaid she would be bullied by her classmates at school when she returned home from tour, which led to complicated feelings about her success.

‘I would come back from a two or three week tour and kids would call me a show-off,’ she explained.
‘Kids were so mean and instead of celebrating my accomplishments, it really brought a lot of shame.’
As Bolaños entered her teenage years it only got worse, as she alleged that her label started ‘pressuring her to show skin,’ which led to her ultimately leaving the spotlight for good.
‘My label started pressuring me to show skin. I felt sexualized at such a young age and incredibly uncomfortable. That’s when I told my parents that I did not want to continue,’ she said.

‘It was hard to leave the spotlight but also, I felt done with it. I had given so much to music at such a young age, and I was ready to leave that behind and move on with my life.’
The Daily Mail has reached out to Sony Music for comment.
At age 15, she ended her contract with Sony and stepped back from performing to focus on being a normal teen.
After high school, she experimented with various career paths and even tried to re-enter the music industry.

‘Starting young taught me independence. I did things most kids can’t imagine – like buying my parents their first home,’ she reflected. ‘It really taught me how to work hard, take risks and go after what I want.
