Would You Rather Work In Office For $240k Or Make $120k For A Fully Remote Job? Furious Debate Erupts Online

Would you rather work a $240,000 in-office job, or a $120,000 job that’s fully remote?

The internet has become totally divided about the topic after the question was posed by

known as her online moniker @Tinx, on TikTok.

In a video that now has than five million views and over 18,600 comments, she explained that someone had asked her the question online.

She said that before she even looked at the person’s profile, she knew that they were Gen-Z, and it turned out that she was right.

Of course, Gen-Z’ers are notorious for favoring the work-from-home model, as a recent study found that two-thirds of the Gen-Z participants were terrified to set foot in an office and would prefer to work from home, with their fears including having to make small talk and pick up the phone.

‘Without even checking their profile, I absolutely knew they were a Gen-Z,’ Najjar said in the beginning of the video.

‘I knew their age started with a two, because for you to even ask the question of whether you should take $120,000 extra dollars a year just to go to the office, just to march your little booty to the office, sit there, f**k around for a few hours, make some friends, eat the free donuts and leave…’ she continued.

‘What do you guys think goes on at the office? It’s not that scary,’ she joked.

Tinx said that she thought that without a doubt, the in-office job for $240,000 was the better deal, as she added that it gives people ‘structure.’

But it seemed that to some, that was not the obvious choice, as a fierce debate ensued in the comment section of her video.

While many agreed that they would take the job for $240,000, others saw valid reasons to take the fully remote job with a $120,000 salary.

‘If I was single, I’d take the $240,000. As a working mom, I’d take the $120,000,’ one person wrote.

Another chimed in: ‘Anyone passing on an extra $120k a year is INSANE.’

’35 years old, $120k remote easiest decision,’ someone else typed.

A different user seconded: ‘It’s not all about money babe. Some people actually want to have life.’

‘Is this even a question? I’m Gen-Z and I’m taking that $240k with a swiftness (I actually like being in office),’ another wrote.

A fierce debate ensued in the comment section of a video about the topic

‘I’m a millennial and I would take the lower salary to be remote. My freedom is worth than $100k and offices are THAT bad,’ one person admitted (stock image)

Someone else commented: ‘The only people in office work makes sense for are men and single people. It does NOT work for moms. I don’t think the question is insane.’

‘I’m a millennial and I would take the lower salary to be remote. My freedom is worth than $100k and offices are THAT bad,’ one person admitted.

While the debate in the comments section ensued, other creators also tossed their hat into the discussion, making their own separate videos to talk about the question.

shared that you would be giving up $70,000 just to stay home in this situation, and believed that most people would take the higher-paying, in-office job.
