Landlord’s Gross Response After He Was Caught Snooping In Tenant’s DRAWER: ‘I Feel Sick’

uaetodaynews.com — Landlord’s gross response after he was caught snooping in tenant’s DRAWER: ‘I feel sick’

A renter came home from work to make a disturbing discovery: her landlord had entered her apartment without permission. But what he did next was even worse…

Tenant Rachel confronted her landlord, Alan, via text, suspecting he’d unlawfully accessed her home while she was out. She went straight to the point:

‘Hi Alan, why were you inside my flat today?’

The apartment owner replied curtly, insisting: ‘Rachel, it’s my property. I’ll come in when I want.’

Rachel shot back: ‘No, Alan. It’s my home. You cannot just let yourself in while I’m at work.’

Alan then tried to justify his actions, responding: ‘I needed to check the boiler. I don’t have to ask permission to look after my own place.

But the renter understood her rights and didn’t back down from putting the landlord in his place.

‘By law you do. You have to give me notice, in writing,’ she said bluntly.

A renter named Rachel confronted her landlord Alan after discovering that he had entered her home without permission

The renter also accused her landlord of going inyo her bedroom closet. He didn’t deny it -making the excuse that he was checking for ‘damp’

Alan refused to admit to any wrongdoing. ‘That’s nonsense. I’ve been a landlord for 15 years, I know what I’m doing,’ he replied.

At this point during the text conversation, it appeared to dawn on Rachel that Alan had done more than simply check the boiler.

‘Did you go in my bedroom?’ she questioned.

The landlord’s reply was shocking.

‘The wardrobe door was open. I had a look inside to check for damp. It’s not like I went through your drawers and found anything fun in there,’ he responded.

Distressed, Rachel responded: ‘YOU WENT THROUGH MY DRAWERS?!’

Shaken by the landlord’s words, she added: ‘I actually feel sick. That is a complete breach of privacy. I’m absolutely disgusted.

‘What personal effects I keep in my drawers, or anywhere in my house, is none of your business. It’s a total disregard for my space.’

Alan immediately tried to play it down: ‘Calm down, I didn’t touch your drawers.’

When Rachel realised her landlord had gone into her bedroom closet, he replied with an off-colour remark about not finding ‘anything fun in there’

Rachel replied: ‘That is sick, Alan. You have no right to even joke about that. Do you realise how inappropriate that is? It’s sexual harassment. You trespassed, invaded my privacy, and crossed a line.’

But Alan continued to minimise it. ‘You’re making a fuss over nothing. There’s nothing sexual about it, either.’

By this point, Rachel called out not only Alan’s actions but also his questionable remark.

‘So you meant to tell me that the comment about my drawers had nothing to do with what I keep in there?’

Alan, now clearly frustrated, tried to shift the blame. ‘Rachel, I didn’t go through your drawers. You’ve got nothing but wild accusations.’

The exchange ended with Rachel making her position crystal clear: ‘If you ever set foot in here again without permission, I’ll be going straight to the police.’

The conversation was shared on TikTok as part of UK property strategist Jack Rooke’s ‘most toxic tenancies’ series.

Jack read out the messages between the renter and the flat owner in a video shared to his @thejackrooke account.

The text conversation saw the tenant call out the landlord not only for his illegal trespass, but also his inappropriate comment about her drawers

The conversation ended with Rachel making her position crystal clear

The property expert summed up the situation by saying that Rachel was ‘absolutely right’.

‘He (the landlord) cannot do that,’ Jack explained.

‘By law, you have to give at least 24 hours notice before entering a property unless there’s due cause. He didn’t have due cause in any respect.’

The caption accompanying the video summed up the scenario: ‘He “checked the boiler” but also “peeked in her drawers”.’

‘No notice. No consent. No respect.’

Comments flooded in, with many insisting Rachel should have demanded a ‘formal apology’ or even taken Alan to court for his ‘vile behaviour’.

Another person felt Rachel shouldn’t wait to go to the police – and warned her to additionally ‘check for hidden cameras’ around the home.

One commenter put it simply: ‘Bloke needs to be on a register.’
