A male influencer has been ridiculed online after making an embarrassing mistake with his Halloween costume.

Popular social media star Jack Murphy went viral when he dressed up as a sexy version of Mario from Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros. franchise earlier this week.

The costume featured nothing more than tiny shorts, suspenders, and a red cap, leaving Murphy’s muscular physique on full display.

However, it wasn’t the revealing costume that shocked his thousands of followers – it was the caption he used on social media.

‘Haven’t found my Luigi,’ he wrote on X, formerly Twitterfollowed by a red and green heart emojis.

People online were quick to point out that Mario and Luigi are brothers, and that Murphy’s seemingly innocent romantic gesture was unintentionally incestuous.

‘Well I hope you don’t ’cause that’s your brother,’ commented one.

‘You know Mario and Luigi are brothers, right?’ asked another, while a third wrote, ‘You could’ve said Prince Peach.’

‘You’re quite aware that they are called the Mario brothers because they are siblings right? It’s not some brotherhood… they are brothers from the same parents… someone doesn’t play the games at all,’ commented a fourth.

The post has so far racked up over 15 million views on social media, making it this year’s most viral Halloween costume – at least so far.

Last year, that honor went to New York-based marketing manager Andrew Pagonis, who went viral for his ‘naked’ The Sims costume at a Halloween party.

The 30-year-old left little to the imagination in the outfit, which consisted of nothing more than a two pieces of pixelated cardboard to cover his crotch and backside.

‘Talk to me in Simlish,’ he captioned the image, referring to the language used in the hit game series.

The image quickly racked up millions of views on X, with many debating whether or not the costume was appropriate.

‘He annoys me because his Halloween costume is just him with no clothes on,’ wrote one user.

Another commented, ‘To be honest he looks old as f**k to be doin’ all this. That’s probably why he’s getting made fun of.’

The criticism also sparked an avalanche of support from users who were eager to defend the businessman.

‘Everyone’s mad in the quotes because his body is amazing and he can afford to go naked to a Halloween party,’ wrote one.

Another chimed in, ‘Say what you will, if I had a body like this I wouldn’t even come up with an excuse. My costume every year would just be “naked gay guy”‘.

This year, Pagonis followed up his Sims costume with another scantily-clad look.

The marketing guru flaunted his toned physique by going as a shirtless version of Jorgen Von Strangle from the cartoon Fairly Odd Parents.

‘Big wand. HUGE,’ he captioned the post, which has racked up 15million views so far.

Social media didn’t hold back their thoughts on his latest look, with one follower commenting, ‘The King of Halloween is back!’

Another wrote, ‘He’s kinda the Heidi Klum of gay Twitter if you think about it.’

‘You’re never beating last year’s costume I’m afraid,’ added a third.
