Dad Defends Taking $10k From Four-year-old Son’s Savings Account For Vacation: ‘He Won’t Know’

uaetodaynews.com — Dad defends taking $10k from four-year-old son’s savings account for vacation: ‘He won’t know’
A dad has defended himself for taking $10,000 out of his four-year-old’s savings account to pay for a vacation – claiming that the tot will ‘never know.’
Christian, a 28-year-old mailman from Biloxi, Mississippiwas interviewed on the latest episode of the Financial Audit with Caleb Hammer podcast this week, where he made the admission.
The podcast sees host Hammer sit down with those whose finances are a ‘work in progress,’ as he ‘roasts’ and ‘rescues’ their spending habits.
During the podcast episode, Christian shared that he makes $27 per hour, earning around $1,500 in a paycheck every two weeks.
Christian said that his wife recently re-joined the Army as she said that her husband was putting the family into a ‘financial hole.’
The couple keep their financial accounts separate, Christian explained, and they go back and forth paying certain bills.
But according to Hammer, Christian had ‘raided’ his child’s savings in order for them to go on vacation – all $10,000 of it.
‘I figured I value building memories with him and stuff, taking him to experiences,’ Christian said.

‘I figured, I took him to New York four times in the last year, Disney World, the Bahamas, Houston, Atlanta,’ he continued, adding that his wife came along with them.
He said that he rang the trips up on his credit card, and the savings were sitting in a Capital One Savings account.
‘He’s like a zero percent loan,’ Christian said.
The dad-of-one added that he hadn’t set up an education-focused savings account for his son yet, either.
However, even though his wife has gone on the vacations with them, she doesn’t necessarily approve of his spending habits.
In fact, he took the money from his son’s savings, which was mostly birthday cash the dad received from his family, without asking.
‘She doesn’t approve, I didn’t really ask for her permission before I did it, I figured, he’s three, four now, he won’t know,’ the mailman explained.
‘He might one day, but by then I plan to have him paid back,’ he added.

Christian said that his wife has a separate account for the son, but isn’t ‘exactly sure’ what’s in it.
Their most recent trip was to New York about four weeks ago, the dad said.
‘He’s only little for so long, I wanna go out there and build the memories, the experiences, I can pay him back later,’ he explained.
In the comments on the YouTube video, many couldn’t believe what the dad had said, with one person even calling it ‘diabolical.’
‘”He’s like a zero percent loan” when talking about a child is actually diabolical like what is wrong with you…’ one user wrote.
Another agreed, ‘Like stealing candy from a baby. Except you’re stealing from your literal baby.’
‘The audacity of a man to admit on a public platform that they take money from their toddler is INSANE,’ someone else typed.
One seconded, ‘He talks about the “kid” like it’s just this thing over here. It is your child who you are responsible for.’
