Samsung On Track To Reclaim Its Throne In The Memory Chip Market

uaetodaynews.com — Samsung on track to reclaim its throne in the memory chip market

In the first quarter of 2025, Samsung lost the crown for the world’s largest memory maker (in the DRAM sector) to SK Hynix. Things got even worse for the brand in 2025 Q2. Well, in the third quarter of the year, Samsung seems to be on track to regain the crown.

Counterpoint Research has published an analysis of the global DRAM market in Q3 2025. According to it, SK Hynix leads the market with a 35% market share, whereas Samsung is in the second position with a 34% market share, as you can see in the image below.

Samsung has upped its game in Q3 2025 compared to Q2 2025, and is now trailing SK Hynix by a single percentage point. If Samsung manages to continue this momentum into the next quarter, it could overtake SK Hynix in the DRAM sector.

Recently, Nvidia approved Samsung’s HBM3E memory, enabling it to supply high-bandwidth memory to one of the leading brands in AI accelerators. With that, the South Korean tech giant could also establish a strong foothold in the HBM market.
