Drew Barrymore looked close to tears as she revealed her recent breast cancer scare.

The 50-year-old actress opened up about her secret health worry during Monday’s episode of her talk show, explaining that doctors took special precaution after she had a ‘bad mammogram.’

Speaking to comedian and breast cancer survivor Tig Notaro, mom-of-two Barrymore said she was forced to go undergo an ’emergency biopsy.’

‘This was the thing I wanted to risk talking about on this show because I recently had a scare,’ she said.

‘I’m completely fine, but I did get a bad mammogram and I got taken into that room and then I had an emergency biopsy. And I waited those five days.’

Barrymore appeared to fight back her emotions after sharing news of her scare.

‘It’s a long wait,’ Notaro said.

Notaro, 54, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012 and has been in remission since 2013 after undergoing chemotherapy and a double mastectomy.

Turning her attention to her guest, Barrymore continued: ‘You had breast cancer and you have spoken about it humorously, eloquently, fiercely and brilliantly yourself.

‘How did you calm yourself? How did you make peace with it?’

‘I went from being somebody that held everything to myself — I was gonna do it on my own and I’m okay,’ the guest replied.

‘Even when I came back from surgery, I had a double mastectomy and my closest friends were settling in to stay with me and I was like, “Oh, I’m fine.” And I couldn’t even lift my arms.’

‘They were like, “You’re all set, Tig?” And I’m like, “Yep, I’m all set. You guys can just head out now.”‘

Viewers praised both Barrymore and Notaro for talking about their experiences.

Taking to social media, one said: ‘It so important to talk about this. Thank you both for sharing.’

‘So thankful for those that openly speak about breast cancer! It’s a scary and lonely journey,’ commented another.

A third added: ‘It so important to talk about this. Thank you both for sharing.’

‘So brave sharing a deeply personal story,’ echoed another. ‘But so important to raise awareness which may just save someone’s life.’

Last month, Barrymore shocked audiences when she took off her shoes and socks to prove to her co-stars that her feet don’t have a smell.

While discussing foot care, the host stuck her bare feet up in the air for her co-hosts Sunny Anderson and Ross Matthew to smell.

While on air, Anderson recalled how she was once in a situation last year where she sniffed Barrymore’s feet and told her they smelled ‘divine.’ She also referenced a report from foot care experts ‘begging people to prioritize washing their feet.’

‘Drew does not have stinky feet,’ Matthews added. ‘She’s like a smell-good girl.’

‘It smells like a whole lot of nothing,’ Anderson said. ‘There’s no scent there whatsoever. And believe me, I have other issues. Nobody escapes issues.’
