To help narrow down the search, I’ve scoured the High Street to bring you my top picks of 100 per cent cashmere knits – from layering tanks to thick, cosy jumpers.

SUPERMARKET STEALS

Supermarkets are continuing to up their style game and this latest launch by Sainsbury’s is proof of that. Tu has debuted its largest premium knitwear collection to date, with seven new 100 per cent cashmere styles.

Available in sizes 6-24, prices start from £65 for a crew-neck jumper. With classic oatmeal or seasonal green to choose from, this understated staple will make a welcome addition to any winter wardrobe.

For those who prefer a cardigan, there’s a crew-neck, button- fastened style in pretty soft pink or grey (£69). And the best part? All of these pieces are machine washable.

PLAYFUL PRINTS

While I still gravitate towards the subtle, ‘stealth wealth’ colour palette of muted beiges and creams, there are plenty of bold prints and vibrant colours to liven up your wardrobe.

For those who want to add a playful touch, Boden’s argyle knit (£149) is perfect for injecting a bit of personality into your neutral winter uniform.

LUXE BRUSHED

If you’re after a knit that feels on-trend, opt for ‘brushed’ cashmere.

The fluffy texture has a luxe look and feel that’s perfect for colder months.

H&M’s polo-neck top (£169.99) in rich brown or sophisticated grey is a standout option that would pair well with a pleated midi skirt or tailored trousers. It’s also the perfect layering piece.

Tanks, in particular, are a versatile cold- weather essential, effortlessly transforming a blouse or dress that would otherwise hibernate until spring.

Marks & Spencer is a go-to for stylish yet affordable cashmere, with several pieces under £100. Its Autograph range includes a classic roll-neck jumper (£95), which offers ultra-soft warmth, and a chunky turtleneck to keep out the chills.

Available in eight colours, the rich nutmeg is a particular favourite, effortlessly complementing pieces you already own. Next’s premium chocolate-brown cashmere jumper (£85) is another great buy – although you’ll have to hand-wash this one.

COOL CARDIS

When it comes to cashmere cardigans, they are often prim and proper – think crew necks, neat fits, and buttoned-up designs.

But if you’re looking for something a little relaxed, John Lewis’s collar cardigan (£109) strikes the perfect balance of preppy and polished without feeling too stiff.

The bright red hue is ideal for the festive season, though it’s also available in classic green, grey, and black.

CHUNKY

It’s easy to assume chunky cashmere knits would be too pricey for a High-Street budget, but Mango is here to prove otherwise.
