Landman Director Issues Jumbled Reassurances About Series Future After Taylor Sheridan Exits Paramount

Landman director Stephen Kay attempted to reassure fans that the series will be retuning for a third season despite creator Taylor Sheridan’s sudden exit from Paramount – but there is one sticking point.

The future of the popular drama – and Sheridan’s other programs on the network – has been up in the air after it was revealed that he had signed a deal to join NBCUniversal once his contract with Paramount expires in 2028.

Despite the surprising move, Kay has hinted that there are plans in place for a third season of Landman, however, he claimed that Sheridan has not yet started work on it.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Mail at the season two New York premiere on November 11, he said: ‘We’re planning on it (season three).

‘We’re planning on it being huge, but he (Taylor Sheridan) hasn’t started writing it yet. But we’re shooting soon.’

Landman – which was created, written, and executive produced by Sheridan, debuted in November 2024.

Starring Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, Ali Larter, and Jacob Lofland, the show was renewed in March for a second series.

Kay isn’t alone in his stance on Landman’s future.

There has been doubt over the future of Taylor Sheridan’s Paramount show Landman

It was reported last month that Sheridan has inked a bumper new deal with NBCUniversal

Showrunner Christian Wallace also suggested in a recent interview that the series will keep going.

Speaking to ScreenRant, he said: ‘We still have a lot of runway.

‘That contract is not ending anytime soon, and so we’re just going to keep doing exactly what we’ve been doing.

‘Nothing at all has changed, so that’s for a future person to worry about.’

He added: ‘The thing about this show is there are so many ways that this can go, and the world is so vast and big.

‘It’s full of stories, and so far we’re two seasons in and we’ve barely skimmed the surface of what we can do and what we want to do.

‘So, I just think that there’s a lot of runway left, and as long as there’s a story to tell and people are there for it, I hope we get to keep telling it.’

Sheridan’s move to NBCUniversal was revealed last month.
