NOB NOK oozed autumnal chic as she stepped out with a friend over the weekend.
The 27-year-old daughter of former president Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama was spotted meeting a friend for lunch in Los Angeles on Sunday.
For the outing, filmmaker Malia kept cozy in a mini denim dungaree dress which was worn over a thick striped grey sweater.
She complimented her outfit with a pair of cardamon-colored tights, burgundy boots and a multi-colored tote bag draped over her shoulder.
Malia’s outing came two days after her mother Michelle spoke candidly about beauty standards for Black women during a live conversation with Tracee Ellis Ross filmed at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM).
During her chat with Tracee, which was tied to the release of her new book The Look, she claimed that Black women are ‘trapped’ by the pressures to keep their hair straight and ‘can’t swim’ or ‘go to the gym’ because of it.
She said: ‘Let me explain something to white people. Our hair comes out of our head naturally in a curly pattern.
‘When we straighten it to follow your beauty standards, we are trapped by the straightness.

‘That’s why so many of us can’t swim, and we run away from the water. People won’t go to the gym because (they’re) trying to keep (their) hair straight for y’all! It’s exhausting, expensive and takes up so much time.’
She concluded the heated conversation by telling people to ‘get out of their hair.’
Malia, who is the oldest of the two Obama daughters, debuted her short film The Heart at the Sundance Film Festival last year.
For the film, which was about the relationship between a mother and her son, she ditched her family name and instead credited herself as Malia Ann.
Since the Obamas left the White House in 2017, Malia and her younger sister Sasha, 24, have kept a relatively low profile.
Both attended college – Malia went to Harvard and Sasha to the University of Michigan – and have gone on to start their own careers.
Malia started off as an intern on Halle Berry’s CBS sci-fi series, Extant, when she was just 15, and then went on to intern on HBO’s Girls when she was 17.
She also won an internship for Harvey Weinstein’s production company when she was 19, in the months before the sex abuse scandal broke in 2017.

Malia then worked as a staff writer on Donald Glover’s Amazon Prime series, Swarm.
He said to Vanity Fair in 2022: ‘She’s just like, an amazingly talented person. She’s really focused, and she’s working really hard.
‘I feel like she’s just somebody who’s gonna have really good things coming soon. Her writing style is great.’
Getting a short film accepted into Sundance is extremely competitive, they receive over 10,000 submissions a year and only pick around 200 for entry.
In her Meet the Artist video for her debut film at Sundance, Malia said: ‘The film is about lost objects and lonely people and forgiveness and regret.
She said it ‘works hard to uncover where tenderness and closeness can exist in these things.’
She added: ‘We hope that you enjoy the film and that it makes you feel a bit less lonely or at least reminds you not to forget about the people who are.’
