The European Space Agency Increases Its Budget To Catch Up In The Race To Conquer The Universe
On Thursday, Ashbacher thanked the 23 European member states of the European Space Agency for their contributions.
He said: “I believe that the message that Europe must catch up and actively participate in order to give wings to Europe’s future through space travel has been received very seriously by our ministers.”
Germany, one of the main donor countries to the European Space Agency, announced that it plans to significantly increase its contribution to the agency’s budget to exceed 5 billion euros.
“Last time, the amount was just under 3.5 billion euros, and this time, we are targeting 5 billion euros,” German Space Minister Dorothy Bahr said at a meeting of the ESA Ministerial Council.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Ashbacher also said that the European Space Agency hopes that a European will be able to travel to the moon in the future as part of the “Artemis” program of the American Space Agency (NASA).
