Completely Broke Man On The Brink Of Homelessness Finds Unconventional Way To Pay For Wedding Suit
It’s no secrets that weddings are extremely expensive. From the venue to the DJ to the photographer to the outfits, couples often fork over tens of thousands of dollars on the day.
When Dagobert Renouf, 36, an entrepreneur from Francemarried Anna Plynina in October, he wasn’t sure how he’d be able to afford it.
He only had a few thousand dollars to his name and was on the brink of homelessnessbut was determined to give his fiancée the dream wedding she deserved.
So he came up with an unconventional way to raise some funds: by selling ad spots on his wedding-day suit.
‘It started as a joke on social media,’ he explained during an exclusive chat with the Daily Mail.
Renouf had posted about his desperation and approaching wedding online and one of his entrepreneurial friends jokingly offered him $500 if he could put his logo on his suit.
The groom was amused by the offer and reposted it, and while it was initially a joke, it went viral and sparked immense interest from actual brands.
Soon, Renouf realized he was on to something that could actually make him some money.

‘I saw a lot of interest. So out of both desperation and interest, I decided to go for it,’ he shared.
His soon-to-be wife ‘hated’ the idea of brands all over his wedding-day ensemble ‘at first,’ but eventually, she came around.
‘What helped her accept it was that it wasn’t faceless generic brands who sponsored me, but mostly friends I had made on my entrepreneurship journey, other entrepreneur who wanted to support us,’ he explained.
The ads ranged in price from $300 to $2,000 depending on placements around the suit, with the most expensive being in the most visible spots.
In the end, he sold 26 spots for a rough total of $11,500.
But making the suit with all the ads on it wasn’t easy or cheap, and it ultimately cost almost as much as he had earned.
‘I wanted something beautiful and not cheap; I had to find a tailor just for that,’ he continued.
After the price of the suit, he said he ‘barely made $500,’ but added, ‘I got a nice story and a free suit.’

In addition, the endeavor actually led to Renouf finding a new job after the CEO of tech company Comp AI saw his story online.
‘At the time I was an entrepreneur and barely surviving. But the fun thing is this suit actually lead me to finding an amazing job,’ Renouf shared.
‘The ceo of Comp AI saw I was selling sponsorships on my suit in July, and thought, “Wow this guy can sell!” so he offered me a job as a salesman at his company.
‘Now I work for them and have a $70k base salary plus commissions. So it’s a much better situation.’
