David and Victoria Beckham’s following count on Instagram has decreased — as has that of their eldest child, Brooklyn Peltz Beckham.

Brooklyn, 26, no longer follows his parents on the social media platform, and the retired soccer star and the fashion designer no longer follow him back. The couple also does not follow Brooklyn’s wife, Nicola Peltz Beckhamand David, 50, and Victoria, 51, do not appear in the list of accounts the actress follows on Instagram.

David and Victoria both still follow their other two sons, Romeo Beckham and Cruz Beckham. Their youngest child, daughter Harper Beckhamdoes not have an Instagram account.

Brooklyn does not follow either of his brothers on Instagram, nor do they follow him back. The same is applicable for Nicola, 30.

Representatives for David, Victoria and Brooklyn did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on Saturday, Dec. 20.

The Instagram unfollowing between the Beckhams comes amid a tumultuous time for the famous family.

Back in 2022, Brooklyn married Nicola in an elegant wedding in Palm Beach, Fla., where they were surrounded by their family and friends. The happy occasion also marked the start of a ru d family rift between Brooklyn and Nicola and the rest of the Beckham family.

At the time, rumors swirled of tension between Nicola and Victoria, because the actress opted not to wear one of the Spice Girls alum’s wedding dress designs, despite originally planning to. A source told PEOPLE earlier this year that the rumors of a clash were real, while a second insider told PEOPLE that the dress situation is “far from the truth.”

A source also told PEOPLE that the drama increased when Victoria allegedly hijacked a dance at Brooklyn’s weddingdespite her son and Nicola’s planned moment for the song, which was performed by Marc Anthony as a gift to the newlyweds.

Back in May, David celebrated his 50th birthday with a star-studded celebration in London. Victoria, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 14, all attended, but Nicola and Brooklyn were absent, despite receiving an invite to the event.

A source told PEOPLE shortly after that Brooklyn and Nicola opted to skip the event because of Romeo’s girlfriend, Kim Turnballwhom the insider claimed was once linked to Brooklyn. However, Cruz replied to a commenter on an Instagram post at the time saying that “Brooklyn and Kim never dated,” which was something another source also claimed to PEOPLE, and Turnball similarly denied the rumors herself.

The Beckhams’ tension has played out in the public eye in recent months, with members of the family sharing cryptic posts on social media.

Brooklyn shared a video of himself and Nicola riding a motorcycle, captioned with a loving tribute in which he said he would “always choose” herin May, and just hours later, Cruz shared a family photo on his own account, writing, “I love you guys than anything, mum & dad, you gave us life and cared for us no matter what. I cannot tell you how blessed we all are to have you in our lives.”

A source told PEOPLE earlier this year that mending the Beckham family rift hasn’t been easy. “Every time they finally have a happy moment, it all falls apart again,” the insider explained. “They’ve tried to make peace.”

“Brooklyn feels torn. It’s his family and blood, but he’s always had a complicated relationship with his dad. A lot of their relationship has felt like ‘business,’ ” the source added.

Still, despite the rift, a source told PEOPLE that the Beckham family’s strained relationship doesn’t have to be permanent.

“The relationship is definitely not beyond repair,” the insider said, adding of David and Victoria’s relationship with Brooklyn, “They love and are always there for him.”

“They’re just hurt and disappointed that he’s now playing no part in family life,” the source continued.
