Last week, Condé Nast Traveler listed Boston, Massachusetts, as the ‘best food destination’ for 2026 and it has sparked outrage (stock image)

According to the outlet, the appeal of Boston as a top food destination is its ‘global flavors, waterfront dining, and neighborhood action than ever’ (stock image)

People seemed especially perplexed that Boston had taken the number one spot, including those who live there.

‘Boston is in fact underrated, but as a Bostonian, that’s complete bulls**t,’ one person wrote.

Another agreed: ‘Boston isn’t even top 10 in America.’

‘Boston number one? Guess the judges got lost in a nor’easter and mistook chowder for haute cuisine. Italy’s pasta is rolling in its grave!’ someone else typed.

A different user seconded: ‘Boston is my home. I love Boston. It doesn’t belong anywhere near this list.’

‘Who in the world is doing these reports? Boston? Really? Not even San Francisco, New York City, Houston, etc,’ another lamented.

‘Not having India in the list surely raises concerns about your taste buds… get them tested,’ someone else typed.

One person chimed in: ‘I think that a Bostonian must have hacked this list as a joke (as much as Boston punches above its weight for food).’

Fans were so shocked by some of the places that were included on Condé Nast Traveler’s roundup that they took to X to air their grievances.

According to the outlet, the appeal of Boston as a top food destination is its ‘global flavors, waterfront dining, and neighborhood action than ever.’

It’s famous for its fresh seafood – especially lobster rolls and clam chowder.

But over the years, it has also expanded its repertoire, becoming a veritable foodie hub with a fabulous local restaurant scene and an atmosphere of innovation.

Last year’s list crowned Clare Valley, Australia, as number one, followed by Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and Genoa, Italy.
