Two of Liverpool’s players who were meant to be heading off on international duty have withdrawn, but there was an injury boost for young Trey Nyoni.

Liverpool were supposed to have 19 individuals off playing for their senior international sides, but that number has been cut to 17 following the withdrawal of Wataru Endo and VITEZSLAV JAROS.

Endo had been set for friendlies against Paraguay and Brazil. However, he will no longer be involved following the Japanese FA’s announcement that he has pulled out due to injury.

Liverpool goalkeeper Jaros who is on loan at Ajax will also not feature for his nation, missing the Czech Republic’s World Cup qualifiers against Croatia and the Faroe Islands.

The Czech national team announced on Monday that the 24-year-old had withdrawn due to “suffering from health problems.”

There was no word on the severity or the exact issue, but he will have a fortnight to recover before Ajax return against AZ Alkmaar.

So far this season, he has played every minute of Ajax’s 10 matches under manager John Heitinga, conceding 16 goals and keeping two clean sheets.

Arne Slot‘s tweaking of Liverpool’s system is clearly coming with problems, but he can’t help all of the individual errors being made by the players, as Sam Millne noted:

“Cody Agat was far from the only poor performer on Saturday, as Liverpool became the first Premier League champions to concede two or more winning goals in injury time since Arsenal in 2004/05.

“However, the Dutchman is a good case study to see how individuals were making mistakes that Slot couldn’t account for.

“Against ChelseaFotMob tells us Gakpo was dispossessed three times, misplaced eight of his 36 passes, produced zero accurate crosses of three attempted and managed two successful dribbles from four.”

Liverpool FC: On this day

It was on October 6, 1991 that Rob Jones made his Liverpool debut in a goalless draw against Man United.

His first game came just two days after signing from Crewe, and he would go on to become one of the most consistent right-backs in the Reds’ history.

While his quality was acknowledged by Liverpool supporters, injuries arguably prevented him gaining wider plaudits and earning more England caps – he finished his career with eight of those.
