Alexander Isaac is remaining tight-lipped on the saga that enveloped him over the summer, with the striker ready to put it behind him.

There was a significant breakdown in the relationship between Isak, Newcastle and Eddie Howe over the summer after the Swede made it clear he wanted to make the move to Liverpool.

Isak released a statement in August accusing Newcastle of breaking promises and misleading supporters, later telling reporters in Sweden that “not everyone has the full picture.”

As he is now officially a Liverpool player and closer to being back to his best after a compromised pre-season, Isak is ready to let the story with Newcastle go.

“It’s not something I want to go into,” Isak said in a press conference ahead of Sweden’s match against Switzerland.

“It benefits nobody, neither me nor Newcastleso let it be.”

There could yet be a time when Isak does open up on what exactly unfolded behind the scenes, but it is clear he does not want to draw any further attention to the story at this moment in time.

He also revealed he has not talked to Howe since he became a Liverpool player, with that relationship strained since Isak went on strike over the summer.

Isak: ‘I’m working hard to push myself’

The striker has been managed carefully by Liverpool and Sweden this season, but Isak declared he now feels ready to play 90 minutes for the first time since the end of May.

Whether that comes with his country in one of their two games this break remains to be seen, but Arne Slot and Co. are expecting him to be closer to his best when he returns.

It has not been the easiest of starts, but Isak remains confident his form will also improve as the team starts to find their feet as a new-look unit.

“I’m working hard to push myself and play my game,” Isak said.

“Things have been a bit tougher for us. I believe that as the team improves and things start to flow better, it will also go better for me.”

Isak has scored one goal in his 312 minutes across six games for Liverpool so far.
