The 21-year-old young man, Youssef, wrote on his Facebook page: “At ten years old, I was in the Al Hilal club academy, and I was promoted to the first team… and I appeared for the first time in the Palestinian Premier League with Shabab Jabalia, but, now, I no longer even have a ball.”

The Palestinian young man added: “There is nothing left in Gaza. All we have left is hope. My hope is to play. I know that I have potential and a good personality. If you need a football player, choose me. It is my only chance to survive the war.”

Youssef enjoys great popularity on social networking sites, and has more than 11 thousand followers, who sympathized with him and supported him, and a video clip in which he asked for help to play outside Palestine went viral, which made him happy.

He wrote: “I am happy that people are talking about me. We are living in difficult times. Every morning my brothers and I search for water and food to survive. We spend the afternoon collecting what we find among the rubble to make a fire at night.”

Thanks to the support and widespread dissemination of the video, Youssef’s appeal reached the city of Bacoli, in the province of Naples, and the Sibella Club, which was recently promoted to the fifth division football league in the regional championships, responded to the Palestinian young man’s request.

Luigi Eliano, team president, said during the “Kick on the Radio” program: “After a discussion with the mayor, Jose Della Ragione, we decided to host the young man with all warmth. We want to give him the opportunity to wear our shirt. We have already begun preliminary contacts with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We hope to welcome Youssef soon to our team.”
