Lulu McCrady took to TikTok on Sept. 5 to share a wholesome interaction with a stranger over their shared love of Rhode products — and then Hailey Bieber joined the conversation.

In the video, the 22-year-old retells the moment she saw a woman leaving Sephora and eagerly trying out her new shade of Rhode’s Peptide Lip Tint. “She stopped me in my tracks,” explained McCrady, who happened to also have the lip product and its coordinating phone case on hand.

McCrady never imagined her video would get the recognition it did (it’s currently at over 1 million views), let alone pop up on the feed of the very famous beauty mogul that she admires. But, she tells PEOPLE that her love for Rhode is genuine — whether or not she goes viral for it.

“I love seeing how much people genuinely support (Bieber). You can tell she’s passionate about what she does, and that makes a difference. I also admire how she listens to her community — like when people pointed out that some formulas weren’t pigmented enough for deeper skin tones, she went back and reformulated to make it better. That level of accountability demonstrates that she genuinely cares,” shares McCrady.

She commends the former model for handling her career and the outside noise with such “grace” and creating a “playful, polished and thoughtful” brand “that feels like a valid extension of herself.”

McGrady also commends Rhode for inspiring her when it comes to “self-expression.”

“All of the lip tints and treatments are staples for me, I carry them everywhere. I’m absolutely obsessed with the blushes (which she bought at Rhode’s pop-up store in New York). My mom loves it too, so it’s basically become a family favorite.”

Bieber launched Rhode in 2022. The brand now offers a wide range of cosmetics and skincare products — in addition to its buzzy phone case accessory — and launched in Sephora earlier this month after being acquired by e.l.f. Beauty for $1 billion in May.
