uaetodaynews.com — Ben Stiller reveals ‘worst decision he ever made’ with nepo baby daughter Ella

Legs are posing has voiced huge regret after cutting daughter Ella from one of his films.

Ella, 23, was due to make her feature film debut in the 2013 movie, Secret Life of Walter Mitty, which was directed and co-produced by her Hollywood A-lister father, who also played the titular role.

However, in post-production, Ben, 59, decided he no longer wanted to include the scene in which his daughter, whom he shares with wife Christine Taylor, appeared in.

She had starred as the much younger sister of her dad’s character, Odessa Mitty.

Over a decade later and Ben has scolded himself for the move.

Speaking in his upcoming documentary, Stiller & Meara: Nothing Is Lost, he spoke to Ella about his shame.

As per Entertainment Weeklyhe said: ‘I cut you out of Secret Life of Walter Mitty. It’s probably the worst decision I ever made in my life.’

Ella, however, argued that the scene ‘didn’t make sense in the movie.’

The Zoolander actor, 59, has voiced deep regret over the move (pictured at Equality Now’s Make Equality Reality Gala in 2024)

‘For me it kind of goes deeper,’ Ben continued. ‘What it relates to is my own issues with my own obsession with my work, or “perfectionism.”‘

Although Ella didn’t get her big break in 2013, she eventually made her onscreen debut in her father’s film Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb one year later.

Ella’s interest in acting began at an early age, thanks to her parents’ influence.

During her school years, she starred in several productions, including playing Rizzo in Grease and Velma Kelly in Chicago, and at the age of just eight, she voiced her a schoolchild in the 2010 animated film Megamind.

recently, Ella guest starred in Sex and the City spin-off And Just Like That.

Some might argue that Ella was destined to follow in the footsteps of her ancestors, and its clear she was influenced by them.

In an interview with Teen Vogue in July, she said: ‘I’ve always wanted to be an actor, but I always wanted to be a really good actor and I always wanted to be a theater actor.

‘I always loved real actor training and feeling like you have those tools.’

She also recognized her privilege, while pointing out how she wants to make a name for herself.

‘I grew up with access to people,’ Ella noted. ‘My parents, my grandparents were amazing actors and writers and that’s incredible and that’s an amazing privilege, but I wanted to also have my own people and pave my own way and have my own voice be put out there…

‘I always want to make sure the people that I work with and who I surround myself with are people who really see me as my own person and my own artist.

‘People are going to judge all they want and that’s its own thing, but I just always want the people in my life to know who I am and what I want to create and be a part of.’

Stiller & Meara: Nothing Is Lost made premiered earlier this month at the New York Film Festival. It is due for release on Apple TV on October 17.

Besides Ella, Ben is also a father to son Quinn, 20.

Ben has opened up about fatherhood in his new documentary and has noted how his separation from his wife Christine in 2017 impacted his two children.

The couple eventually reunited in 2020 as the world adjusted to national lockdown restrictions.

‘I probably f***ed up more with my kids than my parents did with us… my son tells me that being a dad might not have been at the top of my list,’ he told The Sunday Times.

He added: ‘I feel bad about what us breaking up did to the kids, but it was possibly the best thing to happen to Christine and me. It changed our relationship.

‘We don’t take it for granted any more, and if you are happy, you’re going to be a better parent.’
