A man was left upset after his friend broke his only house rule.

The 30-year-old man shared on Reddit’s “Am I the A——” forum that he kicked his 22-year-old friend out of his house after he broke his “one” house rule while sleeping on his couch.

The man explained that his friend “has been down (on) his luck recently and wanted a fresh start in a different state.” Therefore, the friend asked him if he could “crash on my couch for a bit until he gets his life together.”

The Reddit user agreed and helped him get settled by buying him groceries and putting gas in his car. His only stipulation was that his friend couldn’t “bring any girls over to stay the night.”

Unfortunately, his friend didn’t follow the house rule. In fact, the irritated host said that his friend had women over twice in the three weeks he had been crashing on his couch.

“The first time he said he was drunk and it was an accident,” the man wrote, but added that the second time was an impulse decision.

When faced with the second unwelcomed visitor, the host said the woman could stay the night, “but he has to leave with her in the morning.”

“It wasn’t me being jealous, it’s just a matter of respect,” he wrote.

The comments section quickly sided with the gracious host. One person pointed out that if his friend had the funds “to be out getting drunk and picking up girls” then he should’ve be able to afford his own necessities. “He’s taking advantage of you,” they added.

Another assured the Reddit user that his rule was “basic” and not hard to follow. “You allowed it the first time, he did it again. Blatant disrespect,” they wrote, adding that if his friend was “that desperate, they could have gone back to hers.”

A third person applauded the man for standing up for himself, saying he “did the right thing.”

“If someone just ignores your rules in your house and it happened twice, they don’t respect you,” they wrote. The commenter also suggested that his friend would have continued to behave irrationally if he had not faced the consequences of his actions.

“Maybe he’ll show more respect to you and follow a simple rule next time,” the person added.
