Why Will Mohammed V Stadium Be Closed Before The African Cup Of Nations?

Morocco will host the thirty-fifth edition of the continental championship between December 21, 2025 and January 18, 2026, in the first organization for the Kingdom since the 1988 edition.

The Moroccan “Al-Botola” website stated that the closure decision comes with the aim of maintaining the playing field and replacing the current natural grass with the planting of a new variety of winter grass, “Raygrass”, which is characterized by its ability to grow at low temperatures, to replace “Bermuda” grass, which enters a dormant phase during the winter.

The source indicated that Raja Casablanca Club will continue to play its matches at Mohammed V Stadium until the start of works next month, following a meeting chaired by the Governor of Casablanca, in the presence of representatives of the Moroccan Football Federation and the Association of Professional Clubs.
