1. Steam is your BFF for hidden nasties

You might think of steam cleaning as something for bathrooms or floors, but it’s actually one of the most powerful and versatile tools you can own.

Steam doesn’t just clean, it sanitises. Due to its high temperature, it has the ability to kill bacteria, mould spores, and dust mites without any harsh chemicals.

2. Think beyond the surface, the air needs a spring clean too

You can wipe every surface and scrub every corner, but if the air in your home isn’t right, it never really feels clean.

When the air is too humid, it encourages mould and that damp, musty smell that always seems to come back. When it’s too dry, it can irritate your throat, make dust hang in the air, and even mess with your sleep.

A simple humidifier or dehumidifier (depending on your climate) can significantly alter the feel of your home.

3. Your vacuum’s biggest job is actually dust busting

Make it a habit to vacuum your walls and ceilings at least once every year.

Dust sticks to paint and ceiling texture, and every time your air-con or fan runs, it drops back down.

A quick vacuum with the brush attachment makes the whole house feel fresher and cuts down on that next-day dust film.

4. It’s not a race

The fastest way to burn out with spring cleaning is trying to do the whole house in one hit. You’ll get halfway through, run out of steam, and end up surrounded by half-finished rooms.

Instead, pick one zone at a time; kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, whatever, and don’t move on until it’s done.

You’ll see progress, feel motivated, and actually finish the job. Even if you’ve only got 20 minutes, tackle a single cupboard or one area. Small wins build momentum, and that’s how you get through the whole house without feeling overwhelmed.
