Giada Laurentiis’ boyfriend, Shane Farleyis giving an honest assessment of her eponymous Las Vegas restaurant.
In a series of two Instagram videos, shared on Wednesday, Oct. 8, Farley begins his review by pointing out the celebrity chef’s portrait in the background.
“I love eating in an establishment where her picture is right over my shoulder,” he says.
He kicks off the meal with an arugula salad, which he calls “the perfect start.”
After De Laurentiis hands him a cocktail — an old fashioned — he admits, “If I don’t like this, I’m sending it right back. I’m going to be honest.”
However, that’s not the case, as he calls the drink “fantastic.”
Farley also takes a moment to show that De Laurentiis’ menu includes phonetic spellings of all the items — even ravioli. “Okay, Giada,” he says playfully.
He then digs into the salumi arancini, asking, “Would it kill her to make this at home one in a while?”
Next up is caucus and pepper pittini enthrée.
“What is this?” he asks, looking at the cheese. “I’m a little bit nervous,” he says before praising the dish as “amazing.”
“I didn’t even order this,” Farley says when De Laurentiis presents him with a plate of her signature lemon spaghetti, with shrimp on the side. His official review? “Delicious.”
The stuffed chicken parmesan is another winner.
“The first time we came into this restaurant ever was when Giada and I first started dating,” Farley shares. “And people started running up to her and they were like, ‘Giada, can I take a picture?’ I was a little thrown. It was kind of like being in Kentucky Fried Chicken with Colonel Sanders.”
Finally, Farley tastes a selection of “almost every dessert on the menu,” including warm cookies and a soufflé.
“This can’t be real,” he says of one of the decadent treats.
Eventually, Farley offers his final verdict on the culinary experience.
“Ambiance, amazing,” he says. “This is the nicest restaurant in Las Vegas. The staff are all well-dressed, they’re clean, they’re kind. Looks great. The food was phenomenal. Giada just got a round of applause in the other room.”
The couple, who began dating in 2015, celebrated a special milestone last month.
The Super-Italian cookbook author revealed on Instagram in September that she and Farley marked their 10-year anniversary by taking a relaxing weekend getaway.
“Best long weekend celebrating 10 years with Shane ❤️🫶,” she wrote, adding, “love u!!”
