Chick-fil-A Launches First-Ever Vending Machine

NEED TO KNOW
- Chick-fil-A launched its first vending machine in Augusta, Ga.
- The machine is a temperature-controlled fridge with a touchscreen interface that accepts digital forms of payment and credit/debit cards
- Built-in technology checks the expiration dates of the food to guarantee that expired food is not dispensed
Chick-fil-a is stepping into a new, automated space that’ll get customers their favorite eats faster and until the early hours of the morning.
According to information obtained by PEOPLE, the fast food chain installed its first limited-edition vending machine in Georgia. The machine, located in Augusta’s Wellstar Medical Group Health Medical Center, is a temperature-controlled fridge with a touchscreen interface. The device will be “located close to a Chick-fil-A on the hospital’s campus,” a Chick-fil-a spokesperson said.

The innovative machine is equipped with fan-favorite food items, including the restaurant’s Southwest Veggie Wrap with Creamy Salsa (retailed at $7.99) and the Chick-fil-A Cool Wrap with Avocado Lime Ranch ($8.49), which come in sealed plastic wrap in a box that also includes napkins.
The machine is also equipped with two flavors of Waffle Potato Chips: the original recipe and the Chick-fil-A Sauce Flavored Waffle Potato Chips, both for $2.19.
Patrons can expect the vending machine to function like similar machines. Customers will select their desired items and pay with a credit or debit card or digital payment methods, including Google Pay and Apple Pay (the machines do not take cash) and the food will dispense.
As mentioned in the report, the food in the limited-time machine will be replenished as needed with technology that will indicate which items are reaching their expiration date to avoid potentially expired products being offered to customers.
Unfortunately for fans of Chick-fil-A, the vending machines will honor the restaurant’s longtime protocol of being closed on Sundays, but the machines are available for 24 hours every other day.
