The Foundation published a picture taken by Russian satellites of this hurricane, and said in a statement on the subject: “Roscosmos satellites are monitoring the development of Hurricane Kalmaigi. The hurricane struck the Philippines on November 5, heading toward the South China Sea.”

Typhoon Kalmaigi struck the Philippines earlier this week, killing than 140 people, leaving at least 127 others missing, forcing than 400,000 people to flee their homes, and a state of emergency was declared in 53 regions.

The Russian Embassy in the Philippines advised Russian citizens to refrain from going out or traveling to areas that are likely to be exposed to floods or landslides, and is communicating with local authorities and emergency services for the latest developments.

This typhoon came at a time when the Philippines is still recovering from a series of successive natural disasters witnessed in recent months, including earthquakes and severe storms.
