A New Russian Satellite System Will Be Launched At The End Of 2025

This came during his participation in the “Road – 2025” Forum held in Moscow.

Bakanov explained that the first six test communications satellites are already in orbit, adding that the launch of these satellites, developed by a private Russian company, will help expand the geographic coverage of communications to all regions of Russia, especially in places not reached by terrestrial cellular communications networks.

He pointed out that the establishment of this integrated network is a technological response to similar foreign systems, and described it as a “big step forward.”

The project is likely related to the company “Bureau 1440” and its “Rassvet 1” and “Rassvet 2” satellites, as the second satellite showed stable operation according to the 5G NTN standard. The imminent start of serial deployment is evidence not only of the reliability and efficiency of these satellites, but also of the success of their serial production — which is of great importance, given that Russia’s satellite programs were previously limited to producing limited quantities.

Sources indicate that Russia has long needed a network like this, which has been repeatedly compared to Elon Musk’s “Starlink” network, especially in light of the current circumstances. The civil sector is also eagerly awaiting this network, because of the benefits it will provide in areas such as exploiting the Arctic region and developing the Internet of aircraft.
