Eating With Tod Accused Of Having No Manners After Wearing Cap To Eat At Restaurant Run By Michelin Star Chef Who Catered Harry And Meghans Wedding

An influencer has been accused of having ‘no manners’ after wearing a cap while dining at an upmarket restaurant in London.

Eating With Tod, whose real name is Toby Inskip, has become Britain’s biggest food influencer with than 2.1 million followers across social media.

But the 30-year-old has recently raised eyebrows after wearing what some deemed an inappropriate outfit to the restaurant of a Michelin starred chef.

The vlogger was dining at Corenucopia, the latest restaurant venture of Clare Smyth, who created Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s lavish wedding breakfast.

The eatery in the heart of Chelsea offers Wagyu beef, oysters and venison as well as multiple potato side dishes and a luxury take on the classic fish and chips.

Inskip posted his review of the high-end establishment just a few weeks after it opened and revealed what the new menu was like.

In the viral clip, the food-lover was seen tucking in to the lobster bisque which came with aged Cheddar toast and cost £18 and Clare’s famous fried chicken and caviar, costing £9.50 each, which the influencer described as ‘stupendous’.

But many pointed out that Inskip was not dressed appropriately for the restaurant and hit out at his cap which had the slogan ‘I don’t work here’ across the top, and 3/4 zip Carhartt jumper.

After polishing off the starters, Inskip and his family moved on to trying London’s most expensive fish and chips.

The dish, made up of Dover sole with lobster mousse, mushy peas and triple-cooked chips, cost an eye-watering £52.

He then tucked in to Corenucopia’s toad in the hole, made with Cumberland sausage, black pudding, smoked bacon and a charcuterie sauce which cost £42.

And while the viral food vlogger was nothing but complimentary about the restaurant, even going as far as to wonder not just when they’d get their first Michelin star but how many they would get, comments under the video were less than glowing.

Another wrote: ‘You’re in a classy establishment. Take your hat off mate.’

One fan sarcastically commented: ‘Great to see you dressed for the occasion.’

And others chimed in with similar criticisms and shared that they were shocked Toby hadn’t put effort into his outfit.

Many Michelin star restaurants ask diners to dress in smart casual with a general rule of dressing to show respect for the experience.

Men often wear collared shirts, dress trousers and blazers or jackets while women can wear dresses, skirts, or smart separates.

A general rule is to avoid sportswear, shorts, or flip-flops.

However, while Clare Smyth’s latest venture has yet to be given a Michelin star, many in the comments didn’t feel Toby was respecting the quality of the eatery.

Eating With Tod has been approached for comment.

And this isn’t the first time the food influencer has fallen foul of his followers.

Last month visitors to Eating With Tod’s Christmas market criticised the event as ‘terrible,’ and ‘lacking atmosphere’ with one former restaurateur describing the dishes as ‘the worst he’s ever eaten’.

The event promised to bring together some of the most highly anticipated food brands as traders to deliver Instagram-worthy dishes like cinnamon buns dripping in icing by Roll Boys, loaded festive hot dogs by Ruben’s Rubens, and flame-toasted marshmallows on hot chocolate by Chin Chin.

But visitors to the market have been left disappointed. Many have now flocked to social media to slam the market over its long queues, lack of Christmas music or any festive feeling, with one restaurateur blasting the meals as the ‘worst food he’s ever eaten’.

Held outside of the Outernet live events space, Tod’s Christmas market was expected to be one of the biggest festive attractions in the capital, especially given his vast fan base.

Tod said he curated the market because he was ‘sick and tired’ of eating the same kind of food at Christmas markets across the country, and wanted to have ‘proper food and proper chefs’.

But those who attended slammed poor organisation, few seats and no shelter from rain.
