For those of us hoping to switch on the TV one of these days and see Sienna Miller twirling in a Marks & Spencer tomato red coat, her design collaborations with the store have sadly run their course, for now. But no need to worry.

Having scored a bullseye with its M&S X Sienna Miller collectionthe retailer has expanded its designer collaborations and, hot on the heels of M&S X Bella Freud and the sellout M&S X Olivia von Halle pajama rangetoday sees the launch of M&S X 16Arlington in a campaign fronted by Georgia May Jagger.

Admittedly 16Arlington is not as well known, but this luxury London brand is a big noise in British fashion circles.

Known principally for its slick modern partywear, the label’s signature is bold, minimalist silhouettes with maximalist embellishment.

These are clothes that would hold their own on the red carpet – the brand’s designer Marco Capaldo has dressed everyone from Lady Gaga to Jennifer Lopez – but they’re also classics designed to last a lifetime.

There’s nothing in M&S X 16Arlington that you’ll be wearing to the office, but the store has calculated that it already provides plenty such outfits, and now it’s stepping up into the fashion ether.

M&S X 16Arlington Satin Shirt £95, Earring £45, Skirt £180, Heel £105

Prices start at £35 for a gold ring and reach up to £300 for a brushed cashmere embellished dress. It’s a lot pricier than you would expect from the nation’s ‘something for everyone’ store but M&S already sells the upmarket label Jaeger (several of their coats are just under £400) and for a one-off investment (that £280 buttery leather biker jacket, say), the 16Arlington collaboration is worth it.

The 43-piece capsule collection, including jewellery and leather jackets, bags, shoes and denim, is created with 16Arlington’s couture-like attention to detail – all the beading and sequins are stitched on by hand – making it arguably the best M&S collaboration to date, and certainly the most ambitious.

There’s a crystal-draped maxi tank dress (£250), a black feather-embellished off-the-shoulder dress (£180) and a knockout tuxedo jacket (£140).

Fans of Capaldo and newcomers alike will be clamouring for the denim – £65 for a pair of designer fit jeans made on the same pattern block as those in the main collection.

Entry level items include the £45 gold earrings and the fashion front row will be making a beeline for that leather jacket. It’s beginning to feel a lot like party time.
