Huawei officially announced its new foldable phoneHuawei Mate X7which comes with clear upgrades compared to the previous version Mate X6. Whether in design, endurance, performance, cameras and battery. Although the Mate X6 was already distinguished by its thinness and light weight.

However, this time Huawei was able to reduce the size further, and the Mate X7 became 9.5 mm thick when folded and 4.5 mm when unfolded, with a weight of only 235 grams. That is, 4 grams lighter than the previous generation, while maintaining an aluminum frame that gives the phone high rigidity.

The phone also received significant improvements in water and dust resistance, as it comes with ratings of IP58 and IP59. Which makes it resistant to dust, drops of water, and even strong splashes of water. This is an unusual level of protection in foldable phones.

The screens have become a little larger, as the Mate X7 gets a 6.49-inch external screen, and a large 8-inch internal screen. The screens are LTPO OLED with a variable refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz and PWM 1440 Hz technology to maintain eye comfort during use.

On the photography side, the device retains the 50-megapixel main camera with RYYB sensor and variable aperture between f/1.4 and f/4.0, in addition to OIS optical stabilization. As for the telephoto camera, it has been upgraded to a 50-megapixel sensor with a wider f/2.2 aperture and 3.5x optical zoom.

There is also a 40-megapixel ultra-wide camera. For front photography, the phone has two 8-megapixel cameras, one on the external screen and the other on the internal screen.

The phone runs on the new Huawei Kirin 9030 Pro processor, which is the same processor it uses Mate 80 series. Reports indicate that it is built on the ARMv8 architecture and contains 9 cores with a frequency of up to 2.75 GHz. The internal memory is up to 1 TB and the RAM is 12 or 16 GB.

As for the battery, the Mate X7 comes with a dual carbon-silicon battery with a total capacity of 5,600 mAh. It supports 66W fast charging and 50W wireless charging. The phone supports satellite communication and relies on the HarmonyOS 6 system straight out of the box.

The phone is available in four colors: black, white, purple, and red. Prices start at 12,999 Chinese yuan (about $1,830) for the 12/256GB version.

It is currently available only in China, and we do not know whether it will be released in global markets or not. Sales start next December 5th.
