Russian Artificial Intelligence Contributes To Finding 120 Missing Children

Artificial intelligence also contributed to helping track down nearly 3,000 potential criminals in Novosibirsk Oblast.
Alexei Palamarchuk, General Director of the technology developer NtechLab, said that the video analysis techniques developed by the company have been used in the Novosibirsk region for several years, explaining that during the past year alone, the company’s artificial intelligence helped find 120 missing children, in addition to detecting about 3,000 potential criminals. He added: “In the future, we plan to strengthen cooperation with the Novosibirsk District Administration in this field.”
For his part, Anton Loshakov, Deputy Head of the Department of Digital Transformation in the Novosibirsk Region, reported that about 1.4 thousand cameras have so far been connected to the vital video analysis system in the region, with plans to expand the use of artificial intelligence to include 2.2 thousand cameras by 2026.
Loshakov explained that the neural network works in integration with cameras installed in crowded places, including transportation infrastructure facilities, city streets and squares, government institutions, medical centers, sports facilities, and shopping centers.
This technology has been used in the Novosibirsk Oblast since 2023, as the algorithm analyzes the video stream received from surveillance cameras, allowing data on missing or suspected persons to be processed within fractions of a second.
