Travellers Reveal The Unexpected Thing They ALWAYS Do When Checking Into A Hotel Room Nasty

Travellers have revealed the ‘nasty’ reason they always remove decorative pillows, bedspreads and throws from their hotel beds upon checking in.

Aussie singer G Flipwho goes by they/them pronouns, shared a video showing themselves tossing the coloured pillows and bedspread onto the floor.

‘The first thing we should all do when we enter a hotel room,’ G Flip said in a video.

‘Get those NASTY unwashed pillows away – don’t go near them.’

Unlike sheets, which are washed between guest stays, these items often go unwashed for weeks – or even months – leading to a build-up of dead skin cells, saliva, bodily fluids, and other germs.

The 32-year-old, who is married to former Selling Sunset star Chrishell Stause – was not alone, as many housekeepers confirmed the dirty truth behind these hotel items.

‘I was a hotel cleaner for 10 years. Those pillows aren’t washed, the doonas and blankets are washed once a year, and all the kitchen utensils are washed and dried with the same rags that are used in the bathroom. Don’t use any of it,’ one said.

‘I worked in housekeeping, sadly it’s true. They’re never washed. Same for glassware in the rooms. Be careful. Ask to change everything,’ another shared.

‘I used to work in housekeeping for hotels… honestly just bring your own bedding and check for bed bugs,’ one revealed, laughing.

G Flip’s video has been viewed than 300,000 times, with many hotel guests confessing they do the same thing when entering their rooms.

‘THIS! I preach this to my kids every time we stay in a hotel. SO gross,’ one shared.

‘This is me, every time! But they have to go neatly out of the way otherwise the housekeeper might put them back. I also advocate for taking your own bright coloured silk pillowcase,’ another revealed.

‘I thought it was just me who did this. Then the next thing I do is check for bed bugs on the mattress,’ one added.

‘Oh god same and now I found out people boil their undies in the kettle to clean them – no cups of tea for me,’ another shared.

Other travellers shared the extreme lengths they go through to ensure their hotel room is clean during their stay.

‘First thing I do is rip off the bedding. Second thing is walking around wiping all high-touch areas with disinfectant wipes, especially the remote control and light switches. Hotel rooms are actually so gross,’ one explained.

‘I do this (remove decorative pillows and bedspreads). I also wipe everything with antibacterial wipes, door handles, light switches and anything I touch. Never drink out of the cups or glasses,’ another said.

‘I bring my own satin zip pillowcases for hotels and put them over the pillowcases already on. And buy a colour so you don’t forget them when you leave,’ one shared.

‘I always bring my own pillow. No issues here,’ another revealed.

‘I take my own full-length sheet and pillowcase. I used to take a sleeping bag before I found the sheet. Can’t have any part of the covers, pillow or bed touching me,’ one explained.

‘The decorative pillows and bedspreads all go in the closet and I bring new sheets and pillows,’ another added.

Meanwhile, many shared one of their biggest gripes when staying at a hotel.

‘Mine is making sure the sheets aren’t tight, hate sleeping in blankets that are tight and you can’t move,’ one said.

‘I untuck the bottom of the bed, it drives me insane. It’s like I’m stuck in a condom,’ another shared.
