She announced Xiaomi company Officially announced its new flagship phone, Xiaomi 17 Ultra, in China, to be the latest addition to the company’s advanced phone category. In addition to the standard version, Xiaomi also revealed a special version called the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition, which comes with a different design and exclusive features for photography enthusiasts.

The phone includes a triple rear camera system in cooperation with Leica, led by a 50-megapixel, 1-inch Light Fusion 1050L main sensor with support for LOFIC technology to improve performance in difficult lighting. Along with it comes a 200-megapixel periscope sensor from Samsung with continuous optical zoom, in addition to a 50-megapixel wide camera that supports auto focus.
On the front end, the phone relies on a 6.9-inch flat AMOLED LTPO screen, with a resolution of 2608 x 1200 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, with a brightness of 3500 nits. The screen is protected by Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0, and includes a 50-megapixel selfie camera along with an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor under the screen.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, with up to 16 GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1 TB UFS 4.1 storage capacity. The phone runs on the HyperOS 3.0 interface with a set of new artificial intelligence features.
Xiaomi provided the phone with a large battery with a capacity of 6800 mAh with silicon-carbon technology, which supports 90-watt fast charging, 50-watt wireless charging, in addition to 22.5-watt wired reverse charging.
The phone also supports advanced technologies that include an IR device, stereo speakers, Hi-Res sound, four microphones, support for Wi-Fi 7 networks, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, satellite communication, and water and dust resistance standards IP66, IP68, and IP69.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition
Leica’s special edition comes with the same technical specifications, but adds a professional photography experience, most notably a mechanical zoom control ring that allows control of focal length, exposure, and white balance. It also features a design inspired by classic Leica cameras with a metal-patterned frame and a red Leica logo on the back.
The user also gets Leica’s own 3:2 shooting modes, along with an additional security chip and dual satellite communication support. The copy comes in a special box containing a lens cap, a carrying strap, a magnetic case, and a cleaning piece.
Colors and price
Xiaomi 17 Ultra is available in black, star green, violet, and white. While the Leica version is available in two colors: black and off-white.
The price of the regular version starts at 6,999 Chinese yuan ($995), while the price of the Leica version reaches 8,999 yuan ($1,280) for the highest version, with sales officially starting in China as of December 27.
