Already tired of pumpkin spice? A late-season autumn drink is hitting Sonic menus this month — and it has not a whisper of cinnamon or baking spices.

The drive-in chain will be launching Bourbon Caramel Iced Coffee in the coming weeks, according to an announcement. The non-alcoholic drink is set to appear on menus nationwide on November 3, but you can get it starting October 20 exclusively through the Sonic App. You’re welcome.

It’s listed at $3.69 for a medium-sized drink, making it one of the least expensive options among national chains. Here’s exactly how those rich flavors come together.

Cold brew meets a sweetened bourbon caramel syrup, Sonic explains, creating a creamy beverage that’s poured over the chain’s iconic nugget ice. They then layer it with drizzles of caramel, which further coax out the sweetness of that bourbon flavoring. The whipped cream and miniature cowboy hat atop it all? Well, that’s just for fun.

As far as other breakfast offerings go, it joins the Salted Caramel Toffee Iced Coffee already available on Sonic menus. That one is “packed with rich salted caramel and buttery toffee flavor” and topped with cold foam and crunchy toffee bits, showing that dessert-like drinks are simply part of Sonic’s DNA.

While the Bourbon Caramel Iced Coffee may seem like a departure from Sonic’s typical fruit-forward offerings, the brand has been laying the groundwork for experimental beverages throughout the year. Think about their earlier summer take on the pickle trend — to keep up with social media buzz, Sonic partnered with Grillo’s Pickles to offer pickle-flavored slushes and dill-covered tots nationwide. As “dirty soda” recipes started popping up in foodie circles online, the Oklahoma City-based chain shifted to cream-topped lemonades.

The latest idea debuted on screen with “On Brand with Jimmy Fallon,” a series that taps creatives’ top ideas for the nation’s largest companies. (In a recent episode, Sonic challenged contestants to create a “conversation-worthy” drink.) This particular iteration, crafted by New York-based social media strategist Bianca Fernandez, was chosen by brand executives for its “playful spirit” and “bold flavor profile.”

“It’s not every day you see someone’s flavor idea go from a dream to a drink, but that’s exactly what makes Sonic so fun,” a Sonic representative tells Food & Wine. “We love being the place where creativity meets cravings, and the new Bourbon Caramel Iced Coffee is proof that when flavor imagination strikes, we’re ready to bring it to life.”

The series premiered on September 30 as an NBC companion to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Other featured brands include KitchenAid, Captain Morgan, Pillsbury, Dunkin’, and Marshall’s.

At Sonic, this iced coffee is only available for a limited time — so if you’d like to secure yours, the clock is ticking.
