Sally* was house-sitting for a family friend when she posted a fun video on social media as she played with the dogs.

Minutes later, she was fleeing the property after a mysterious figure was spotted lurking in the background of the footage.

The spine-tingling story was retold by Emma Klipstein, the US host of Too Much Podcast and a friend of Sally’s, prompting a heated discussion about what the creepy figure was.

‘This is one of the scariest stories I’ve ever been told. My very good friend told me this story in real time when it happened,’ Emma explained.

It all started when the Robinsons* asked Sally if she could look after their dogs for two nights while they went away for the weekend in the middle of one October.

The owners were happy for Sally to bring a friend along so she wouldn’t be alone – but after asking around, including her bestie Carla*, she ended up staying at the house by herself because no one was free to join her.

It wasn’t the first time she’d house-sat for the Robinson family – it felt like any other weekend: feeding and playing with the two dogs until they returned from holiday.

But one fateful night, things took a terrifying turn after Sally uploaded a seemingly innocent video to Snapchat showing the dogs running from the hallway to the living room towards her.

‘Everything was business as usual. She was playing with the dogs and decided to take a video. She called the dogs over and they came running down the hall to her and she’s playing with them, she’s petting them and she decided to upload that video to Snapchat,’ Emma explained.

Then 15 minutes later, her friend Carla saw the footage and casually texted Sally, ‘Who did you end up bringing with you to dog sit?’ Sally replied, ‘Oh no one was available so I ended up just coming by myself.’

A few seconds later, Sally answered a frantic phone call from Carla urging her to run out of the house immediately and call the police.

‘Sally, you need to get out of the house… There’s someone in the house with you,’ Carla begged.

Confused, Sally asked, ‘What are you talking about? What do you mean?’

Carla replied, ‘Look at the video. There’s someone in the hall.’

Upon a closer look, the disturbing video shows the dogs running towards Sally before a male figure can be seen walking from room to room across the hallway.

The footage was enough to send shivers down Sally’s spine.

‘Sally immediately runs out of the house, grabs the dogs, and waits in her car down the street,’ Emma said.

‘The police show up within a few minutes. They survey the house, they go inside, they check every single room, every single window, every single door and find every single one locked.

‘There is no sign of forced entry and there is no one in the home. Sally calls up the Robinsons, sends them the video and the Robinsons immediately come home.’

It’s unclear when the creepy encounter took place – but Sally has since declined to dog-sit for the Robinsons.

‘And to this day, the figure in the hall cannot be explained. And Sally never dog sat for them again,’ Emma said.

‘It’s a scary f***ing video. I have re-watched this thing 1,700 times and I cannot explain the figure in the hallway. I hope that scared the s*** out of you.’

Emma’s three-part video series about the ‘scary ghost story of the figure in the hall’ has been viewed more than 3.8million times – with thousands divided.

‘I saw someone crossing from left to right as the dogs almost reached the dog-sitter. Look at it again you will see it,’ one said.

‘I literally got chills,’ another shared.

‘If someone says, ‘Get out the house’, I’m out – no question. I’ve watched too many true crime and scary movies based on true crime. I’m out and driving away,’ one said.

Some suggested the ‘figure’ may have been the dog’s tail wagging – however, many were adamant they could see a human shadow walking across.

‘That is definitely not a dog’s tail. You can see a full large moving human shadow behind that dog,’ one said.

‘Not the dog’s tail. That is absolutely a person,’ another pointed out.

‘WOW! The video VERY clearly shows a person running across the hall,’ one added.

Many were convinced that another human had been lurking in the house and slipped out after Sally fled.

‘It’s not a “ghost”. Someone was actually in the house. The person left when the pet-sitter left. It’s the only logical scenario. Who knows what would have happened had she stayed,’ one said.

‘If she left the house and went down the street, the person had time to leave,’ another suggested.

While one suggested: ‘Well it looks like the dogs knew whoever it was because they weren’t barking.’

Meanwhile, many believed the figure was a ghost, with one suggesting: ‘It’s just a ghost, not an actual person.’

‘The dogs come out of the room that the figure comes out of. Anyone die in that house?’ another pointed out.

‘The dogs just came from that direction. They either know who it is if real or it’s a ghost,’ one shared.

‘Aw the dogs were playing with the ghost. Saw them walk from one room to another. Very scary how often there are spirits in houses and we never notice them,’ another suggested.
