Nara Smith And Algae Cooking Club Release Garlic Oil

Breakfast cereal, gum, bread, butter, and Cheetos are just a few of the items Nara Smith has made from scratch. The content creator, model, and home cook has captured audiences’ attention by taking the term “homemade” to another level, often while dressed in high-fashion attire.

Besides shocking viewers with her commitment to making typically store-bought ingredients in her home kitchen, Smith has some serious skills in the kitchen. She’s an avid bread baker and has shown off her lavish holiday spreads, like a German-centric feast of roulades and fried potatoes.

Fans flock to Smith’s content for equal parts fashion and food, and the content creator has now made it much easier to get a taste of her favorite flavors at home. Nara Smith announced today that she’s releasing a limited-edition cooking oil in collaboration with Algae Cooking Cluband it’s infused with an ingredient we all know and love: garlic.

While Smith has previously teamed up with luxury grocery store Erewhon to launch a custom smoothie, this marks her first collaborative product that fans can actually use in their own kitchens.

The release marks Smith’s first launch of an at-home cooking product.

Since its founding in 2023, Algae Cooking Club has quickly made waves in the food industry with its innovative product, a sustainable, algae-based cooking oil produced through a fermentation process. Thanks to its neutral flavor and high smoke point, algae cooking oil is a versatile ingredient in the kitchen and one that presents a blank canvas for the tasting notes that Smith wanted to highlight.

Although it’s called Nara’s Roasted Garlic Oil, this fat carries far more than just one layer of flavor. It’s infused with roasted garlicJapanese yuzu, white miso, and charred scallions, each of which brings a different advantage.

As Smith explains to Food & Wine, “It has a rich and warm garlic flavor, savory from the white miso, and with some brightness and complexity from yuzu and scallion.”

While you, of course, wouldn’t use it in a dessert, the aromatic, savory notes in the oil would complement a wide range of dishes. You could use it to easily add garlicky flavor to a dish without needing to peel and mince several cloves, and the content creator notes that “It’s a very versatile oil. You can use it to sauté, bake, and roast, or even in dips or spreads. I love roasting chicken and vegetables with it, topping soups, or using it alongside vinegar for a dip.”

As with everything Smith creates, she paid careful attention to the aesthetic details of this product too. Algae Cooking Club’s classic oil comes in a slender white bottle with bright orange lettering, but the new collaboration looks markedly different.

Nara’s Roasted Garlic Oil comes in a slightly broader, shorter bottle made with frosted glass and a hand-drawn label featuring beautiful illustrations of its central ingredients.

You won’t find any artificial flavorings in the limited-edition oil, and it’s created through a slow steeping process. Algae Cooking Club co-founder and CEO Kas Saidi details in a press release that “We steep the oil like tea in large stainless steel kettles, low and slow.

“It’s painstakingly difficult and time-intensive, but the payoff is a garlic oil that’s layered, complex, and still packs a true garlic punch. We even flew yuzu oil in from Japan to get the flavor right.”

With its stunning bottle, flavor-packed but versatile tasting notes, and tie to one of the internet’s most beloved home cooks, the garlic oil is perfectly primed for the holiday gifting season. Grab a bottle while it’s still available, because the roasted garlic oil is now for sale on Algae Cooking Club’s website, and it won’t be around forever.
