uaetodaynews.com — JPMorgan’s ‘dystopian’ new headquarters brutally mocked online: ‘This is the stuff of horror movies’

JPMorgan just opened their $3 billion state-of-the art headquarters in New York – but some have slammed the global company for it’s ominous office design.

The colossal tower will serve 10,000 employees at America’s largest bank, and as per a press release, was designed with a focus on sustainability and wellbeing.

It even boasts some outdoor space – but critics have deemed it ‘dystopian‘ in design.

Some people took issue with the trading floor of the new building after Dell Technologies Chairman and CEO, Michael Dell, shared an snap of the area and posted it to X, formerly known as Twitter.

‘Congratulations @jpmorgan on the opening of your new headquarters!’ Dell wrote, sharing a picture of the rows and rows of monitors positioned closely together.

People flocked to the replies to share their thoughts on new space, with some comparing it to something from a ‘horror movie.’

‘This looks like a dystopian future they warned us against,’ one person wrote.

‘Are these for cafe free or free-range analysts?’ quipped another.

Someone else wrote: ‘*New Intern*: I can’t wait to work for the best company in the world,’ along with a shot from Toy Story 2 that shows rows of Buzz Lightyear toys stacked on the shelf.

‘This is the stuff of nightmares and horror movies…’ declared another.

However, others fired back, claiming it looks like a regular trading floor.

‘No… That looks like every other trading floor since computers were invented!’ one X user responded to the viral picture.

‘Nothing has changed li’l bro, we went from paper to computer, stop trying to make a point,’ chimed in another.

The JPMorganChase Chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon spoke of the company’s significance in New York City amidst the new headquarters.

‘The opening of our new global headquarters is not only a significant investment in New York but also a testament to our commitment to our clients and employees worldwide,’ he said at the opening ceremony.

He continued stating that by creating ‘world-class environments’ where employees can thrive, the bank is ‘strengthening our ability to serve our clients and communities – locally and globally – for generations to come.’

The Daily Mail has reach out to JPMorganChase for comment.

Earlier in the year, Dimon was under fire after he passionately defended his stern stance on remote work in front of college students, declaring he’s ‘had enough’ and it simply ‘doesn’t work’ in his business.

Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase for the last two decades, got onto the controversial topic after a graduate student asked a question regarding his leaked, expletive-loaded remarks from a company town hall about the finance firm’s end of hybrid work.

‘I’ve admittedly listened to the leaked audio clip that was circulating on Twitter about your strong opinions on remote work,’ the student divulged before probing the chairman on his stance.

‘I would love to just hear some of your thoughts, or guidance, or advice on how we should think about these topics,’ the student added.

In response, Dimon claimed the only group of people disgruntled with the move are ‘the people in the middle’ – like corporate office workers.

‘If you work in a restaurant, you’ve got to be in. You all may not know this, but 60 percent of Americans worked the whole time,’ he said.

‘Where did you get your Amazon packages from? Your beef, your meat, your vodka? Where did you get the diapers from?’

The Harvard Business School-graduate appeared to be referring to people who continued to work in person during the pandemic.

‘You got UPS and FedEx and manufacturers and agriculture and hospitals and cities and schools and nurses and sanitation and firemen and military. They all worked,’ he continued.

‘It’s only these people in the middle who complain a lot about it.’

White-collar workers, who generally have more freedom with where their work can be performed than frontline workers, have had various responses to return-to-office mandates in recent years.

Some have pushed back or questioned such mandates or even quit over them – something the longtime CEO said he is ‘OK with.’

‘I completely respect people that don’t want to go to the office all five days a week. That’s your right. It’s my right. It’s a citizen’s right,’ he previously told CNBC.

‘But they should respect that the company is going to decide what’s good for the clients, the company, etc., not an individual.’

Earlier this year, the JPMorgan Chase CEO announced that it would require employees to return to office five days a week, beginning in March.
