McDonalds Australia Quietly Brings Back Wildly Popular Menu Item After TWO Years

The Chicken Big Mac has quietly returned to the Macca’s menu for the holiday season.

The beloved limited-edition burger was last available in Australia over two years ago. Now, its sudden and unexpected return in late 2025 has caught Aussies by surprise.

This popular fusion burger essentially combines the classic Big Mac with a McChicken burger.

The Big Mac’s beef patties are swapped out for two McChicken patties, made from 100 per cent Aussie chicken. All the other signature Big Mac ingredients remain, including the special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions, served between a sesame seed bun.

The Chicken Big Mac’s comeback was quietly revealed as part of the fast food chain’s festive season The Grinch meals.

Available from November 19, the classic and mischievous Dr Seuss character is the star of two limited-edition themed meals, each accompanied by an exclusive collectible or toy.

The Grinch Meal includes a choice of the returning Chicken Big Mac, a classic Big Mac, or a 10-piece pack of Chicken McNuggets.

It’s served with fries and your choice of drink – including the limited-edition Frozen Fanta Lemon with Green Apple Popping Pearls.

Each The Grinch Meal then comes with one of four festive sand globes, themed around The Grinch’s summer sabotage. For instance, there’s three globes depicting classic McDonald’s characters missing one of their signature items – all stolen by The Grinch! There’s the Hamburglar without his burger, Birdie without her bow, and Grimace without his shake.

Then, the fourth sand globe features The Grinch himself looking smug with his stolen treasures.

Little Grinches can also get in on the fun with The Grinch Happy Meal. It features all the usual Happy Meal menu options plus one of 12 collectible Grinch toys, including a Max Star and Grinch Snowball.

Rounding out the holiday menu is a Grinch-themed sneaky side combo: Chicken McWings paired with drizzled Hotcake Syrup.

This mischievous sweet-meets-savoury side is an unexpected creation worthy of the classic illustrated villain himself.

Marketing Director of Menu and Brand for McDonald’s Australia Amanda Nakad says: ‘This summer, Macca’s is flipping the festive script. The Grinch might’ve rocked up to steal our sunshine and joy, but plot twist: he’s only made things even epic.’

‘With new limited-time menu drops, cheeky collectibles, and a whole lot of holiday havoc, it’s the kind of chaos we’re absolutely here for.’

However, it’s the long-awaited menu return of the Chicken Big Mac that really has Macca’s fans excited.
