Famous chef Giada de Laurentiis’ lookalike teen daughter Jade has shared a major life update: she’s going to college.

The former Food Network star, 55, shared the exciting news via Instagram earlier this week.

She posted a video of herself and Jade, 17 – whom she shares with her ex-husband, clothing designer Todd Thompson – opening her acceptance email and celebrating the news.

The clip began with Jade, dressed in some low-rise jeans and a white tank top, talking to the camera as her mom stood in the background.

‘Hey guys, this is me seeing if I’m going to get into college,’ she said.

‘I’m actually so scared, I can’t click the button. I can’t do it. What if I don’t get in?’ the teen nervously asked.

‘If you don’t get in we’ll go to phase two,’ De Laurentiis, who dressed casually in jeans and a blue and white striped collared shirt, assured her.

De Laurentiis watched on as her daughter opened up the email and learned that she indeed was accepted.

‘I got in! Thank God,’ an excited Jade said before the mother-daughter-duo both started jumping up and down.

‘Amazing, you did it!’ De Laurentiis congratulated her as they hugged.

Jade then began reading the acceptance letter to the camera, but omitted the school’s name.

It then cut to her on the phone with her dad, who told her, ‘This is the biggest accomplishment of your life. Congratulations.’

‘So far,’ Jade pointed out, before the video came to an end.

De Laurentiis previously spoke to People magazine about her nerves over her daughter heading to college next fall.

‘Because she’s 17, there isn’t a ton of time for me. Sometimes I feel like she’s sort of in a living in a hotel at my house, you know, she’s in and she’s out, and she has such a full life,’ she shared during an interview in May.

‘Just to have her all to myself for that week was one of the best gifts, especially as we entered the last year of her living at home and all of the mixed emotions I have behind that.

‘I’m super excited for her to fly and find herself and be who she wants to be, but at the same time, it’s incredibly sad. I’m gonna miss her terribly.

‘As a mom, you spend all 18 years of your life sort of cracking your schedule around your child and their needs, and all of a sudden it’s all going to be gone. It’s really scary. It scares the s**t out of me, to be honest.’

De Laurentiis and Thompson welcomed Jade in 2008 but ultimately split in 2014, and they have been open about their amicable co-parenting situation over the years.

‘We live a stone’s throw away from each other, like five minutes, which has really helped keep Jade stable and just keep her environment as similar as possible at both place,’ the TV personality said in 2018.

While the cookbook author has said that her daughter showed a passion for cooking early on – she was helping her mom in the kitchen as young as two years old – it’s likely she won’t follow in her mother’s footsteps.

‘There’s not one single part of her that’s like, “I’m going to be a cook like my mom,”‘ De Laurentiis revealed in 2017. ‘No, it’s like, “That’s my mom and I am my own person.”‘

Instead, Jade seems to have a passion for performing.

‘That girl has been bugging me to allow her to do auditions for off-Broadway shows for years and I’m like, “No, you’re not moving to New York. You’re not doing this. You have to be a child. It’s important to be a child. It only happens once in your life,”‘ De Laurentiis told People in 2022.

‘It’s crazy because neither her father or I sing. Nobody in my family sings. I mean, we all love music, but not like that. Maybe in the shower.

‘I’m always speechless when it comes to Jade and her music, because she’s able to write music.’
