The First President To Do So In Half A Century… Trump Was Greeted With Boos While Attending A Match

President Donald Trump became the first president in nearly half a century to attend an NFL regular-season game while in office, watching part of the Washington Commanders’ game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday night.
Only two presidents have attended regular-season NFL games while in office: Richard Nixon in 1969 and Jimmy Carter in 1978.
Trump also became the first US president to attend the Super Bowl while in the White House, when last February he watched a match that ended with the Philadelphia Eagles defeating the Kansas City Chiefs with a score of 40-22.
Booed
According to what was reported by the network CBS NewsTrump was greeted with loud boos from some in the stands when he appeared on the big screen late in the first half, while standing in the booth alongside House Speaker Mike Johnson and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
He also faced another wave of shouts when the stadium announcer introduced him at halftime. The disgruntled chants continued as Trump recited the enlistment oath to a group of US military personnel during a ceremony held during the match break.
Trump’s statements
Before arriving at the stadium, Trump told reporters when he got off Air Force One after landing at Joint Base Andrews: I’m a little late, then he boarded his ar d car heading to the stadium, adding: “We’re going to see a good game. Things are going well. The country is fine, and the Democrats should open their doors,” referring to a possible government shutdown.
During the first half of the game, before the president arrived, Lions player Amon-Ra St. Brown celebrated a goal, imitating the Trump dance made famous by a number of athletes last year.
In the third period, Trump joined Fox anchors Kenny Albert and Jonathan Vielma for a short speech that lasted about eight minutes.
Albert asked him about his experience as an American football player in high school at the New York Military Academy, and Trump replied with a smile: “I used to play at the tight end position, but things were a little easier then, it wasn’t very difficult.” Trump left the field before the match ended.
