‘It has been our honour and pleasure to serve you, and we are deeply grateful for your companionship along the way,’ it continued, before profusely expressing ‘gratitude’ to their loyal patrons.

Daily Mail contacted the family-owned restaurant, with family spokesperson Eric confirming the family had run the establishment for the past 10 years.

Prior to that, he said, the restaurant had been operated by the landlord.

‘We feel very sad to leave this place and are sorry for all our customers, as we’re no longer able to provide good food and good service to them,’ Eric said.

‘This is the worst news ever. We’ll follow you to the ends of the earth,’ agreed a third.

Others were already planning to visit before shutdown for one last memorable meal.

‘Omg no way, this place is an institution! Time to go get some braised eggplant for the last time,’ one person posted.

In addition to their famed braised eggplant dish, other signature Northern Chinese menu items included pan-fried dumplings and Xinjiang stir-fried noodles.

Chinese Noodle House (far right) also happens to be in the same eating precinct as similarly named establishment, Chinese Noodle Restaurant (far left). Daily Mail understands that Chinese Noodle Restaurant has been operating for well over 30 years, whereas Chinese Noodle House opened recently, with the current owners operating it for the past 10 years

In addition to having similar names, both Chinese Noodle House (right) and Chinese Noodle Restaurant (left) offer similar Northern Chinese cuisine and even have similar outdoor tables with umbrellas

Alongside the disappointment, the online announcement also sparked confusion among Chinatown regulars.

In the very same Prince Centre precinct, just a few metres away on the opposite corner of the mall’s ground level, sits the similarly named Chinese Noodle Restaurant.

Daily Mail ascertained that that venue – which also specialises in Northern Chinese cuisine – has operated in the same spot for well over 30 years.

As well as sharing similar menus and names, both restaurants have neighbouring outdoor seating areas under umbrellas.  Chinese Noodle House patrons sit at the tables with green umbrellas, while Chinese Noodle Restaurant customers use the red ones.

As a result, several comments about the closure admitted to being ‘confused’ over which venue was actually closing.

‘Which one is this?’ one person asked.

One person replied to explain that although Chinese Noodle House has been there for years, it opened second ‘to try and get the overflow from Chinese Noodle Restaurant’.

A separate reply agreed with the overflow theory, noting the original Chinese Noodle Restaurant venue was renowned for ‘long lines’.

Someone else wondered aloud, ‘Are the other outdoor seating restaurants adjacent owned by them as well, or are they competitors? I was never sure – their menus are kinda identical.’

Indeed, the two venues offer not only similar menus, but even some identical prices.

At both establishments, a plate of Xinjiang stir-fried noodles costs $16.80, and a serve of 10 pan-fried pork buns is also $16.80.

But while Chinese Noodle House is soon to close, Chinese Noodle Restaurant continues to thrive and remain open for business.
